A blended learning programme lasting several weeks helped new managers to strengthen their role, focusing on values, self-reflection and psychological safety.

Initial situation & challenge

An international company wanted to support first-time leaders as they took on their new roles.

The aim was to help them develop a clear sense of their own leadership identity and promote psychological security within the team.

However, there were different levels of experience, high expectations and a desire for practical learning that could be integrated into everyday working life.

Approach & implementation

I developed a customised, modular blended learning programme.

  • Face-to-face workshops with intensive moderation
  • Self-study phases with interactive elements
  • Weekly transfer tasks tailored to real leadership situations

The content was curated via the company’s own learning platform and supplemented by individual coaching sessions.

Specific online sessions on intercultural competence, resilience, and value-oriented leadership helped participants to refine their own leadership style.

How the challenges were resolved

  • Strengthening self-efficacy and team dynamics.
  • Combining self-reflection with peer learning
  • Providing individual support instead of standard training.
  • Concrete tasks for everyday life instead of abstract theory

Summary

The participants developed a personal vision of their leadership values and received a clear roadmap for putting these into practice in a corporate context.

The leadership culture was noticeably strengthened. This was achieved through attitude rather than tools.

Where the customer is today

The format has been firmly anchored in the training portfolio and extended to other management levels. The HR department now uses the content as a blueprint for value-based management development programmes.
