Result

Technical experts were enabled to present complex content. They did so in a way that allowed strategic decision-makers to make well-informed decisions.

Initial situation & challenge

An international company was preparing its IT security teams for presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

The challenge: communicating highly complex content and system architectures in a way that is understandable, precise and convincing. The need for brevity, clarity and impact conflicted with the requirement for technical language, in-depth knowledge and attention to detail.

Approach & implementation

I designed and led a condensed, two-day workshop for all the teams, one after the other.

The focus was on:

  • Storytelling for specialised topics
  • Visualising complex contexts
  • Dealing with questions and critical feedback
  • Individual live coaching with feedback

The teams collaborated to refine their presentations in terms of structure, language and visuals. They learnt how to deliver confident presentations that are appropriate for the target audience. With clarity rather than overload.

How the challenges were resolved

  • The content was refined and streamlined into strategic core messages
  • Visual communication was improved with diagrams, analogies and plain text
  • The participants‘ confidence was strengthened through live coaching
  • A shared understanding of impact, relevance and comprehensibility was established

Summary

The presentations became shorter, clearer and more effective. Technical expertise was retained. They were delivered in a language that engages decision-makers.

The training‘s motto became the teams‘ guiding principle:

„Simplicity is not a lack of content. It is a sign of mastery.“

Where the customer is today

The format has now become an integral part of the process of bringing new teams on board. Managers report improved meetings, clearer reports and a new communication culture.
